Tornadoes

p_tornado_storm_135190816.jpg

A tornado is a violently rotating column extended by a cumulonimbus cloud to the ground. They are primarily formed by supercells, a type of thunderstorm. While tornadoes are very interesting to watch, they are extremely dangerous to human life and property.

Tornadoes are based upon scales of power, size, and damage

- F0: Light Damage (40-70 MPH)

- F1: Moderate Damage (73-112 MPH)

- F2: Considerable Damage (113-157 MPH)

- F3: Severe Damage (158-206 MPH)

- F4: Devastating Damage (207-260 MPH)

- F5: Incredible Damage (260-318 MPH)

One of the most violent tornadoes to ever take place was on April 3rd, 1974 during the Ohio tornado outbreak. Ted Fujita, the man who coined the F-Scale said that if there ever was an F6 tornado, this would qualify as one.

"A true monster is clever enough not to be scary. It hides in plain sight praying on our ignorance. It doesn't roar before it devours us, rather waits for us to openly invite into our lives" - Pecos Hank
